| Strengths & Weaknesses | Strengths: Combat Training - In addition to standard combat and weapons training, Elias is a specialist in hand to hand and small arms, more so than the average security officer, feeling that Starfleet has become rather complacent in recent years. Proven right when the Borg attacked Wolf 359 and the subsequent Dominion Wars, Elias combat training and tactical mind proved correct in training new Starfleet Officers and front line combat service on the deck of a Starship throughout the war. Weakness: PTSD: As a survivor of Wolf 359, Elias watched most of his friends and crewmates assimilated by the Borg, coupled with being a survivor of his ship, he harbors feelings of guilt over living when so many of his comrades did not. While this guilt has mellowed over the years, Elias still keeps those losses in mind when he makes decisions as he deems loss of life to be a failure of mission. |

| Personal History | Elias McEntrye was born in Dallas on 22th of April of 2341 to Clay McEntyre the Second and Kristian McEntyre. The McEntyre’s being a military family with deep roots in Federation Service, dating back to before the Federation was founded. Elias’ ancestors were MACO officers and Enlisted personnel. He does have family in the service today, though they are Medical Officers and Surgeons, mainly on his Uncle’s side of the family. Growing up, Elias was inspired by his family’s legacy, something that was espoused about at length given their lineage and spent his childhood years learning proper discipline, weapons handling, and self-reliance, skills useful for a future soldier of the Federation. His father, Clay understood this drive and need, having served as an Intelligence and Security Officer on several starships and Deep Space Outposts. He nurtured the budding future officer, teaching him the in’s and out’s of Starfleet, and helping him with his studies and exams to qualify for a slot at Starfleet Academy’s Jeremiah Hayes College of Security, when Elias expressed an interest in joining the Space Service. Elias was accepted with high honors to West Point in 2358, having achieved remarkable scores in his High School classes and admission exams. He trained harder than any recruit at the Academy, impressing his instructors with his commitment to the Force, and his willingness to go above and beyond for his beliefs. Upon his senior graduation from the academy, he asked to remain to continue his studies for a double masters in Military History and Defense and Strategic Studies, graduated in the top of his class and was commissioned into the fleet on the fast track to Lieutenant. He spent most of his career in garrison postings and two combat drops against the Cardassians in the final years of the Cardassian Border Wars. This left him with the impression of Starfleet’s complacency and aloof nature, that Starfleet’s technological wizardry will always save them. Elias feels differently and as such, has grinded against his superiors who feel he’s been too reactionary. Elias finds himself proven right when the Borg attack at Wolf 359 and the fleet is handed the worst defeat in its history. This drives Elias into redoubling his effort, rigidly into becoming the most Tactically Proficient Officer he can be with the modern thinking of Starfleet. Serving on the U.S.S Jane Addams for 5 years as Chief of Security, showed him that traditional thinking led to more senseless losses and needless suffering. The Maquis conflicts also showed that the citizenry at large languished under an uncaring government, though Elias never subscribed to their tactics or methods, he understood where they were coming from. When the Dominion Wars broke out, Elias was promoted to Commander in Starfleet Special Operations, placed in command of the U.S.S. Decker, a Steamrunner Class destroyer and sent on hit and run missions across the border. His tactics, gallantry and service earned him a Christopher Pike Medal of Valor for bravery in defeating a squadron of Jem’hadar fighters and a Jem’Hadar Cruiser. His reward was deployment to Bak'u in the wake of the Son’a incident in 2375. While stationed there, he met Bak’u Scientist, Dr. Gil’an Tyris. What followed was a whirlwind romance that blossomed almost immediately. In 2384 after almost ten years on the Decker and a promotion to Captain in 2377, Elias was named a Commodore and given choice of command. He selected the Guinevere as his command due to its unique design, built at Deep Space 12 by Tolian Naros for exploration in the Briar Patch. By 2389 He has been in command of the Guin for 5 years. |
