Major Blez Dralis

Name Blez Dralis

Position Detachment Executive Officer

Second Position Provost Marshal

Rank Major

Character Information

Gender Male
Species Unjoined Trill
Age 42

Physical Appearance

Height 1.82 m (6’0”)
Weight 86 kg (190 lb)
Hair Color Purple
Physical Description Medium-tall, strongly built, and immaculately groomed, Blez carries himself with the composure of someone who has rebuilt more than muscle. His purple hair—source of endless speculation—has been described as either a spiritual marker or simply his favourite colour. His tan complexion and clean-shaven face keep him looking alert even off duty.

Tribal tattoos spiral from his ankles and wrists to meet across his torso, forming a single flowing design. A thin ring of pattern circles his right eye and ends in a slender spear-point line down his cheek.

Family

Spouse Ex-Spouse: Iralan Flower – Human, 39, civilian scientist
Children Raising Jhaen, Dhomynik, and Kaedens became both Blez’s challenge and salvation. The three boys share their father’s sharp eyes and stubbornness but could not be more different in spirit.

Jhaen Dralis (Jayn)(10), the eldest by minutes, inherited Blez’s focus. He’s methodical and introspective, often tinkering with holo-devices or solving mechanical puzzles that others abandon. Blez sees in him the calm engineer he once was, and occasionally worries Jhaen’s perfectionism masks deeper anxiety.

Dhomynik Dralis (Dom)(10) is the firebrand—restless, outspoken, always testing rules to see what happens when they bend. He questions everything, especially authority, and argues with the ease of someone who knows he’s loved enough to do so. Blez privately delights in his boldness, though it sometimes means late-night discipline and even later apologies.

Kaedens Dralis (Kade)(10) is the mediator. Sensitive and observant, he has an instinct for emotional balance that often disarms his brothers’ conflicts. When Jhaen retreats or Dhomynik bristles, Kaedens finds the words—or the silence—that brings them back together.

Together they form Blez’s living classroom: Jhaen teaches patience, Dhomynik keeps him humble, and Kaedens reminds him that empathy is strength.

The boys accompanied him to Trill during his Initiate training, where his daily meditations and their early schooling intertwined into a rhythm of shared renewal. Even now, aboard a starship destined for another galaxy, they remain the anchor to his humanity (well Trillity).
Father Doral Dralis – deceased (Unjoined Trill), Adoptive: Derek Wildstar (Human)
Mother Elyra Dralis – deceased (Unjoined Trill), Adoptive: November “Nova” Wildstar (Betazoid)
Brother(s) Adoptive: Leon Tana (Human/Betazoid), 25
Sister(s) Adoptive: Lyza Ajol (Joined Trill), 32
Other Family Uncle: Hovan Dralis, 69 – freelance replicator technician, itinerant worker and lifelong family constant

Personality & Traits

General Overview Blez’s life has been shaped by loss and the long search for balance that follows it. Outgoing, loyal, and instinctively social, he once mistook constant company for healing. As a young man, he chased belonging so fiercely that people either adored him or burned out under the intensity. Violence and rejection eventually tempered that drive, turning exuberance into steadiness.

Regular counselling through his Academy years revealed what everyone already sensed—his sociability was armour against grief. True recovery didn’t arrive until later, when fatherhood and maturity redefined what connection meant. He no longer needed to be loved by everyone; he needed to be present for the few who mattered.

His leadership reflects that same philosophy. Blez listens first, acts second, and prefers structure built on trust rather than fear. He’s approachable and humorous but expects accountability—especially from himself. When problems arise, he seeks compromise over conflict, but never hesitates to take responsibility if things go wrong.

Blez is a man rebuilt many times over—by tragedy, by discipline, and by love. His calm professionalism hides a core forged in loss and tempered by compassion. Whether enforcing regulations or guiding subordinates through crisis, he remains what he’s always been: a presence that steadies others when the deck starts to tilt—and a father learning, daily, that balance is a lifelong mission.

Strengths & Weaknesses Emotionally intelligent, empathic, and patient under pressure
Skilled mediator between rigid systems and human needs
Inventive problem-solver with Operations and Security experience
Occasionally too informal with subordinates
Struggles with solitude; work and camaraderie often fill emotional gaps
Ambitions To raise his sons into kind, capable men
Attend their weddings in good health
Advance research into hybrid Trill–Human symbiont compatibility
Write and finish the holonovel he’s drafted for twenty years
Hobbies & Interests Holodeck recreations of Captain Proton and other mid-century melodramas, Parrises Squares when duty allows, long swims followed by strength circuits, and the occasional match of Velocity. Off-duty, he studies genetics and symbiont neurochemistry via subspace courses—a quiet pursuit few colleagues know about.

Personal History 2347 (0) — Born on Trill to Doral and Elyra Dralis.
2352 (5) — Family relocates to the New Sydney system to work under the Tigan family mining contracts.
2358 (11) — The Orion Syndicate retaliates against Doral and Elyra over unpaid debts. During a family reunion, Blez slips away to visit a friend. When he returns with his uncle Hovan, they find every Dralis but Hovan dead—each death staged as an accident. The pair survive and spend the next years grieving and drifting through the Federation’s social-service network.

2358–2363 (11–16) — Placed by Federation Family Services in a succession of foster homes—Human, Andorian, Vulcan, Bajoran—each culturally alien in its own way. Hovan remains his sole constant, visiting irregularly but faithfully, bringing starship parts, stories, and the kind of affection that, though clumsy, endures. Those visits become Blez’s benchmark for love: imperfect but present.

2363 (16) — Adopted by Derek (Human) and Nova Wildstar (Betazoid). Their patience and insight teach him that stability isn’t earned through performance. For the first time, he feels seen rather than assessed.

2384 (37) — Takes compassionate leave from Starfleet. Temporarily returns to the Wildstars’ care network while reorganizing his life.

2385–2386 (38–39) — Returns to Trill to enter the Initiate Program—not for joining, but to rebuild body, mind, and soul.

Body: rigorous ascents through Mak’ala’s crystalline caverns, fasting, and hydrotherapy that leave him lean but resilient.

Mind: daily meditations, philosophy lectures, and psychological evaluations that strip him of pretense.

Soul: learning silence, humility, and the discipline to listen inward.

Medical testing proves demanding; he endures the exhaustive physical and neurological assessments required of every Initiate. His sons accompany him to Trill and live with him near the Initiate compound. Trill society’s reactions to the hybrid boys range from polite curiosity to cold disapproval. Blez ignores the whispers, using them to teach his sons grace under scrutiny.

Though he completes the program, Blez has not yet been called for joining. No symbiont has been matched to his candidacy—he suspects age and single parenthood make the Commission cautious. He bears no resentment; the experience restores his equilibrium.

Still, fascination lingers about his sons and Joining, Blez gets concerned that due to their hybrid nature they may be refused both the Initiate program and Joining. He begins subspace study in genetics and xenobiology, developing a working theory that Human–Trill hybrids might one day host symbionts with biochemical support.

Service Record 2365 (18) — Admitted to Starfleet Academy, Operations track, Earth.
2369 (22) — Graduates; commissioned Ensign, Operations Division. Assigned to a frontier survey vessel in the Deneb sector.

2373 (26) — Serves through the Dominion War aboard a support craft, focusing on logistics and infrastructure repair. The war hardens his sense of responsibility but deepens his empathy for those carrying unseen burdens.

2377 (30) — Promoted to Lieutenant JG. Posted to the science vessel USS Delacroix. There he meets Iralan Flower, a Human civilian xenobotanist whose quick wit and curiosity match his own.

2379 (32) — Marriage to Iralan on Trill. Their triplets—Jhaen, Dhomynik, and Kaedens—are born later that year. Blez balances long duty shifts with sleepless nights, discovering that exhaustion can coexist with joy.

2381 (34) — Promoted to Lieutenant and appointed Chief Operations Officer aboard the USS Delacroix. The position demands composure and technical mastery; outwardly, he thrives. Inwardly, something fractures. The realization that he is attracted to men grows impossible to suppress.

2382–2384 (35–37) — Iralan senses the emotional distance first. Her intuition tells her the marriage is sliding toward silence, yet she perseveres for their sons. Blez, terrified of wounding her and ashamed of his secrecy, retreats behind professionalism.

One evening, she returns to their quarters unexpectedly and finds him in bed with another man—a fellow officer whose empathy had become dangerous comfort. The man gathers his clothes and leaves without a word, leaving Blez frozen in the shock of being caught and Iralan standing in the doorway, her expression already halfway between fury and heartbreak.

Within days, she departs the Delacroix, taking a temporary posting to a civilian research outpost. Before leaving, she makes a single clear decision: the boys will stay with their father.

The aftermath is paradoxical—grief tangled with relief. He knows he has failed her not through cruelty but through cowardice. Raising three small boys alone becomes both penance and redemption.

2386–2387 (39–40) — Rejoins Starfleet, transferring to Security Division. His Initiate discipline makes the retraining surprisingly manageable—he jokes that compared to Mak’ala’s endurance trials, Security’s obstacle course feels recreational. Excels in investigative procedures, small-unit tactics, and Federation law. Completes Bridge Certification rather than full command coursework, preferring pragmatic versatility to ambition.

2387 (40) — Promoted to Lieutenant Commander; assigned as Assistant Chief Security Officer on a coreward starbase, balancing fatherhood and duty.

2389 (42) — Reassigned as Chief of Security (with the rank of Major) and Provost Marshal aboard a Helena-class vessel under the Triangulum Exploration Initiative. Jhaen, Dhomynik, and Kaedens—now ten—accompany him, continuing their studies aboard ship. His leadership blends regulation with empathy; among the crew, he earns a quiet reputation as the steady hand at the rail.
