Personality & Traits

General Overview Leo Harkness is the youngest and least experienced member of Alpha Squad, though his attitude has already earned him respect. He is bright, polite, and quietly determined to prove himself. His instinct is to help before thinking about protocol, which often results in over-extension but also makes him invaluable in crises.

He looks up to his officers with the open admiration of someone who still believes Starfleet represents the best version of what the Federation can be. To him, structure is safety, and leadership is something almost sacred.

He is earnest to a fault and has yet to learn the unspoken rhythms of soldiering, but his composure during first-aid situations hints at the calm professional he might one day become. He is naturally empathetic and occasionally too honest for his own good. When others falter, he steadies them through presence rather than confidence.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths:

- Quick learner who adapts well to instruction
- Calm and steady during medical tasks
- Reliable and morale-positive under supervision
- Physically resilient and good at following through on orders

Weaknesses:
- Inexperienced in sustained combat
- Hesitates when confronted with anger or confusion
- Pushes himself too hard to prove worth
- Struggles with assertiveness when leadership is unclear
Ambitions He has no fixed ambition for rank yet, but he dreams of being someone his team can depend on without hesitation.

Personal History Born on New Canberra Colony in 2369, Leo grew up in a household of engineers and civilian responders. The quakes of 2384 destroyed much of the colony’s infrastructure, and the relief operations that followed shaped his ideas of duty and courage. Watching Starfleet and Ground Forces teams coordinate disaster response left a lasting impression that eventually drew him to enlist.

During basic training, Leo was noted for his physical endurance and empathy. His instructors described him as “bright and diligent, with steady hands and a strong conscience,” though his hesitation under simulated combat stress was marked for development. He showed particular promise in triage and small-unit cohesion exercises.

Wears a woven bracelet made by his younger sister before he left home. He rubs it unconsciously when uncertain or deep in thought, a small grounding gesture that his teammates have learned to recognise as a sign he is thinking hard before speaking.
