Personality & Traits

General Overview A security officer and Starfleet Special Forces Operator of physical prowess and education, Jeksyne Vale is a dedicated officer of the fleet, loyal to a fault, and tends to focus on work much to the detriment of a personal life, to which he himself says to have none. He is a Combat Veteran of Wolf 359, The Federation-Klingon War of 2372-2373, The Dominion War and the Post War years. He trains the people under his command to not rush into situations but analyze, observe, determine every course of action. He has no time for those who rush ahead by the seat of their pants.
Strengths & Weaknesses Peak Physical Fitness - Jeksyne has trained his body to be in top physical strength and form.

Combat Training - In addition to standard combat and weapons training, Jeksyne has been trained in the use and operation of Designated Marksman Weaponry such as the TR-116 in addition to EVA Combat training.

Book Smarts - Jeksyne holds degrees in Military Science and comparative literature specifically Xenoliteratures and cultures, reading literature and art from other cultures as they provide a window into others that can be used to influence events and people. Understanding of Cultures can lead to better mission outcomes when brute force may not be the best choice for a situation.

Weakness:

Cold and Detached: Through what is believed to be a psychological response to past trauma, Jeksyne can be cold to others. Interpersonal relationships at times can be difficult for Jeksyne to process and this has led him to further take solo assignments and combat missions that allow him to zero in on his objectives. It has been suggested that was due to an incident at 16-17 where it is believed that his father attempted physical violence to “beat” the gay out of his son which led to Jeskyne building walls around himself. Starfleet Medical and Psychiatry suggest that he would benefit from opportunities to allow him to open the walls himself through interactions and peer support.

Traumatic Childhood: Jeksyne grew up the scorn of an overbearing father who did not tolerate any weakness or failures from his children. Jeksyne was believed to be the target of the brunt of his father’s over dominating ways to the point where his father disowned him when he found his son making out with a classmate. It is believed that his father at that point attempted to “beat” the gay out of his son. No report by Jeksyne was ever made to Starfleet or Federation Law Enforcement and when Jeksyne joined Starfleet Security, he requested that no further inquiries were to be made on the subject in an attempt to put the past behind him.
Ambitions Surviving one day at a time and making sure those under his command do the same. He considers it a failure of mission if he loses people under his command.

Personal History Born on Memory Alpha in 2347 to historians Darvin and Carissa Vale, Jeksyne along with his brothers, Jeksenri and Jaysyne, were raised on the massive research station, surrounded by the wonders of history and the majesty of space.

Jeksyne and Jaysyne are twins, born five minutes apart. Both enjoyed more physical pursuits as opposed to their brother, Jeksenri, who followed in their parents footsteps and became a historian. Jeksyne grew up loving to exercise, read and develop practical skills using his hands. Memory Alpha, having the largest library in the Federation, allowed Jeksyne and his brother to broaden their skills, through education, physical exercise. The vast halls of Memory Alpha were wondrous places to get lost and at times, the maze-like corridors of books and artifacts made for exciting adventures, even if it was into their own imaginations.

For Jeksyne personally, this was also an escape from a father who, for lack of better terms, on the inside, was a cruel monster. Some base human tendencies die hard and when Jeksyne was found making out with one of his male classmates by his father, Jeksyne became isolated and distant, though it is believed that Dr. Darvin Vale had been physically and mentally abusive which drove Jeksyne into the arms of the first service that would accept him at 17, Starfleet Security.

Jeksyne applied to the Starfleet Security program for enlisted personnel and was inducted at Logan City, Terra Nova Colony. Spending 16 weeks training in basic, he excelled in his new normal, training like his life depended on (and sometimes did). He graduated from Basic Training shortly before his first deployment supporting the fleet at Wolf 359.

He saw the first true fight against the Borg, a horrific experience as a young security crewman aboard the U.S.S. Chekhov under the command of a young Elias McEntyre. Jeksyne found himself fighting Borg boarding parties during the battle when drones boarded the ship, protecting his crewmates as they fled to escape pods and shuttlecrafts before he himself was tossed into a pod by Lieutenant McEntyre.

After the battle, he was reassigned to the U.S.S. Galaxy which was exploring the frontier before they returned to Earth for Retrofit in 2371 where a now Lieutenant Commander McEntyre recruited the Petty Officer Second Class into the newly reformed Starfleet Special Forces.

For the next year, Jeksyne, along with 50 other Security Officers were trained in intense combat tactics, small team operations and other necessary skills to operate behind the lines in preparation for what Starfleet felt was coming: War with the Dominion. Though it was not the Dominion for which they would be deployed in combat for the first time, it would be against the Klingons when the Klingons broke the Khitomer Accords in 2372. Starfleet was on the defensive and needed to buy time in the Archanis Sector.

The focus point of Jeksyne’s time in this conflict was the siege of Ajilon Prime. During this, he was second in command of Starfleet Special Forces team 5 as its senior non-commissioned officer. With a focus on sabotage, area of denial operations and holding actions against the encroaching Klingon Forces, Jeksyne spent most of his short time on Ajilon behind the lines. Shortly after the arrival of the Defiant, Tecumseh and Rutledge, Jeksyne and the rest of Team 5 were rotated off-world.

This small lull didn’t last, as the Dominion War was declared less than a year later.

Immediately being promoted to Chief Petty Officer, he lead a fire-team called Epsilon to the front lines in the Bajor Theater. In some of his first encounters with the Jem’Hadar, fighting in close quarter hand to hand combat, A Jem’Hadar solider managed to land a shocking blow to Jeksyne’s left eye with a bayonet, leaving a deep scar and some vision loss that still affects him to this day. This taught him to always be vigilant, even in the heat of battle, a lesson he continually teaches those under his command.

In late 2373, he and his fire team along with the rest of Special Forces Fifth Squadron under Commander McEntyre were sent behind the line, to liberate POW camps, freeing Klingon and Federation POWs and colonists caught on the wrong side of Cardassian Space when they declared themselves part of the Dominion alliance. This planet hopping campaign continued until the summer of 2374 when the Dominion invaded Betazed and smashed through the Federation Seventh Fleet.

Immediately, Jeksyne and the rest of Starfleet Special Forces were dropped onto the planet to conduct whatever operations were needed in an attempt to pry the Dominion from one of the most vital planets in the Federation. Most of these operations were later classified but included sabotage of Dominion positions, emplacements, infrastructure, area of denial operations, covert assassination of high-ranking enemy combatant commanders and sympathizers. In one operation, he took a direct hit to the gut by Jem’Hadar plasma fire. Even with this injury he managed to complete the mission. After the war, he would be awarded his first Chirstopher Pike Medal of Valor.

Shortly after the Liberation of Betazed by the 10th fleet under the U.S.S. Enterprise, Jeksyne and the rest of SpecForces were rushed to the Cardassian line where the Ninth fleet had made their push into the heart of the Cardassian Empire which was in the process of fracturing. Seeing the Battles of Chintoka and Cardassia Prime.

After the War, Jeksyne was recommended to Starfleet Academy, based on his war record, commendations and recommendations from his commanding officer. He would spend the next 4 years at Academy engaged in studies at San Francisco and a further year at the George Casey Tactical Training Center at Tarkin Ridge, graduating as a Lieutenant Junior Grade with honors in Defense Studies and minoring in Xenoliteratures (to which he took an interest in since boyhood).

He would take command of Fifth Squadron as it’s commanding officer and was deployed to the volatile Cardassian Empire which was embroiled in a semi-civil war against rebels of the True Way. The True Way sought to return Cardassia to its former conquest and glory and restore the Central Command and the Obsidian Order as the ruling body of the Empire. During these years, numerous joint operations between Starfleet and the Cardassian Dutapa Council led by Castalin Elim Garek focused on capturing War Criminals of the Old Empire, those rebels still operating and pockets of Alpha Quadrant Jem’Hadar still lingering in Cardassian Space.

During a mission in 2385 onboard a True Way Space Station in the Badlands, Jeksyne and his team came under heavy enemy fire. While under fire, Jeksyne pulled several heavily injured team members to safety at great risk to himself. After capturing the leader of the True Way cell and returning to Federation Space, Jeksyne was awarded his second Christopher Pike Medal of Valor.

He returned to ship duties after being promoted and transferred to the U.S.S. Guinevere under his former CO and left the ship shortly before January 2389 returning to Tarkin Ridge to become an instructor of Small Team Tactics and Special Operations where he currently serves.
