Personal History Born aboard the Santa Lucía, an old Type Four Class Civilian Freighter Isabella didn't have the usual upbringing that most were used to. Instead she was expected to be part of the crew from an early age. Most of the crew of the Santa Lucía were closer than a normal crew. Months, even years in space transporting cargo turned them into a family. Also most of the crew were generational, with most inheriting positions from their parents and so on.

The Santa Lucía crew were mostly made up on crew whose descendants were from the Earth country of Spain. Thus, Spanish traditions and holidays were widely celebrated aboard the ship. Also, due to this Isabella has a slight Spanish accent and can speak Spanish and English fluently.

When Isabella was seven, her little brother Diego was born. This was a huge rejoice for her parents, for her not so much. As early as nine years of age, Isabella was expected to care for her brother whilst her parents worked at their stations. Her father was the Santa Lucía's captain and her mother was the chief engineer, as well as the ships cook and Operations officer.

As a teenager Isabella was expected to 'pull her weight' and contribute to the running of the ship. Therefore she was assigned to Engineering, expected to learn as much as she could. Ideally one day she would be the Captain of the vessel being the first born to her father.

However things soon changed when the Santa Lucía was attacked by Orion pirates when she was seventeen. They boarded the Santa Lucía and murdered over half of the thirty seven crew aboard. Luckily Isabella, Diego and their parents survived the attack. But the Santa Lucía was left adrift for nearly three months.

They were rescued by the Starfleet Ship USS Endeavour. By the time rescue came the ship was on emergency power. The crew were starving due to replicators being offline, no power to most of the ships systems and no emergency rations. The Captain of the Endeavour predicts they would only have had a few days left at most.

The Santa Lucía was towed back to Starbase Seventy Four for repairs and the crew taken aboard for medical treatment. Isabella spent six months in the Starbase's medical facility recovering. She was underweight, malnourished and was starting to show signs of organ failure. However Starfleet Medical managed to pull her through. It was after fully recovering that she decided to attempt to enlist in Starfleet.

Truthfully, she also didn't want to inherit the Santa Lucía. Although she is a child of the stars, she wanted adventure, excitement and to do something with her life that wasn't hauling cargo. Her education was sketcy at best, being educated on old school programs in the Santa Lucía's computer and the occasional education data burst from a starbase. However she was always a bright child and rather intelligent. She somehow passed the entrance exam for Startfleet Academy and was accepted.

However Isabella did not tell her parents straight away. Three days before the Santa Lucía was due to leave Starbase Seventy Four, she told them she had been accepted into Starfleet. She told them she wanted to do more with her life. She was met with anger from her father. He wanted his daughter to take over the Santa Lucía when he stepped down and to be with her ship's family at all times. However her mother encouraged her, and talked her father down. (She later heard that she may have threatened him to calm down with the use of a ladel whilst cooking).

Therefore, she made ehr way to San Francisco. This was her first time on Earth, and the first time in the Sol System. She found that it was paradise from what she was used to. She was far more familiar with the outer colonies and having hardly anything. She even managed to fit in a trip to Spain whilst at the Academy and then wouldm often visit just to enjoy traditional Spanish Tapas. (She became well known at a few restaurants and cafe's in both Madrid and Barcelona).

Her Academy training was pretty standard. She eventually got into the Engineering School as she showed signs of being a good engineer. This most likely came from her background aboard the Santa Lucía and having to help her mother in Engineering. She didn't make many friends, but did 'hit the books' hard and graduated in the top fifteen per cent of her class.

She was immediately snapped up as an Ensign to serve aboard the USS Hawking as a Engineering Officer. The Nova Class vessel felt like home to Isabella, although compared to the Santa Lucía, it was far bigger even if it was a Nova Class Science Vessel. She found the technology fascinating and enjoyed working aboard. There she stayed for the next four years, making her way upto Lieutenant JG before being reassigned to the USS Valkyrie.

The Valkyrie felt even bigger to her than the Hawkin did. She eventually made it to the rank of Full Lieutenant after two years. Also due to her competance and her ability to spot mistakes easily, she was soon promoted in position to that of Assistant Chief Engineer. The Trafalgar's Chief Engineer recognised her potential as a future Chief and encouraged her to take command of the Engine Room on several occasions. She found it difficult as she was a little awkward and hard to approach, plus she had developed a temper and a no-nonsense attitude towards people. She was also very blunt and straight to the point, as she had been raised like that on the Santa Lucía.

She stayed aboard for another year before she was given the opportunity to join the USS Trafalgar, this time as Chief Engineer. She left the Valkyrie behind and joined the Trafalgar which was a Nebula Class Vessel. Her time as Chief Engineer was an interesting one. Shortly after taking command of Engineering she was soon regarded as a no-nonsense chief. She allowed her engineers to talk to her freely, and expected the best out of them. She was also strict and her attention to detail was extraordinary. Although she was their department head she often allowed them to come to her with problems. She was by no means a counsellor in the slightest, but she was always honest and didn't 'pretty up' or 'bubble wrap' the truth. She said it plainly and bluntly. Of course this usually upset a few people along the way, but other respected her for it.

She quickly made the rank of Lieutenant Commander due to her skill and was noticed that she was climbing the ladder quickly. This was noticed by her captain, who encouraged her to attempt command training. She was a little reluctant at first to do so, but she wanted to show her father she could command a Starship and not some old freighter. So she worked hard and managed to pass the bridge officer certification. It was then she was noticed by other in Starfleet, and recruited from her position as Chief Engineer into that of an Executive Officer Role. This time she would be becoming the Executive Officer aboard the USS Guinevere with its unique mission.
